BALTIMORE - Alex Castro defeated Sagar Sathyanarayanan at No. 6 singles to get the Loyola University Maryland men's tennis team the winning point at Morgan State, while the Greyhounds' women's team dropped a tight 4-3 decision to the Bears Wednesday night.
Reid Burch teamed with Brett Shriver and Castro teamed with John Ferruzzi to win the doubles point for Loyola. Burch and Shriver beat Lucas Krinsinski and Treajh Ferguson, 8-5, at No. 2 doubles, while Castro and Ferruzzi won at the No. 3 spot, 8-4.
In singles, the Greyhounds picked up points at No. 3 and No. 5 singles before Castro clinched the win for Loyola, 6-1, 6-2. Connor Pietrak defeated Krusinski at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-0, and Blest Jones beat Ferguson, 6-3, 7-6 (4).
On the women's side, Loyola won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Amanda Lanciano and Ania Krawiec defeated Chelsi Russell and Danielle Thompson, 8-3, while Megan Hahn and Olivia Ott teamed for an 8-2 win over Jasmine Edwards and Riana Roberts.
Julie Clark and Ott then defeated Edwards and Roberts with matching 8-4 scores at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
