BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland men's and women's tennis teams combined to win six doubles matches and the Greyhounds swept the visiting University of Hartford on Tuesday afternoon.
Loyola's women defeated the Hawks, 7-0, and the men were 5-2 winners.
Scarlett Hoy and Judy Lite were victorious in the No. 2 doubles position, 8-1, over Kaitlin Lennon and Haley Gileau. Tiffany Ash and Andie Keyser-Baker then defeated Nicole Haynal and Emily Willhoft, 8-0, in No. 3 doubles.
After securing the doubles point, the Greyhounds went on to sweep Hartford in straight-sets in singles action.
Janasek topped Zampas, 6-0, 6-3, in No. 1 singles, and Sabrina Fedele beat Sabatino, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 2 . Hoy was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Haynal in No. 3 singles, while Johnson defeated Lennon, 6-1, 6-1 in No. 4.
In the men's match, Pierce Norton and Kevin Zingler led off with an 8-3 victory in No. 1 doubles versus Aneil Bhalla and Joel Isaacson, and Dan D'Agostino and Keyan Sanai won 8-4 against Marco Neves and Eric Floum.
Loyola's 3-6 singles players were winners on Tuesday afternoon. Zingler defeatd Isaacson, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3, and Gorczakowski defeated Floum, 6-1, 6-1, in the fourth slot.
D'Agostino topped Nedelcu, 6-4, 6-4, in No. 5 singles, and Connor Lisco beat Edgardo Ureta, 6-0, 6-1, in No. 6 action.
Hartford claimed points with wins by Bhalla, 6-4, 6-1, over Sanai in No. 1 singles, and Neves, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, against Norton in the second position.
