BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland men's tennis took advantage of the spring-like temperatures and sunshine Wednesday afternoon, defeating Shepherd University, 7-0.
Reid Burch and Connor Pietrak teamed to down Grant Davis and Louis Charette, 8-2, at No. 2 doubles, and Alex Castro and John Ferruzzi paired for an 8-4 win over Austin Thomas and Will Wheatley in the No. 3 doubles flight.
Olesnycky won the No. 1 singles match with a super-tiebreaker victory in the third, topping Davis, 7-6 (3), 4-6, 10-4.
Kuctha was a 6-0, 7-6 (3) winner over Kolumban at No. 2, and Burch defeated Lesko, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3. Pietrak got past Wheatley, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4, and Castro was a 6-1, 6-1, victor against Charette at No. 5. Ferruzzi completed the sweep with one of his own, 6-0, 6-0, over Thomas at No. 6.
The Greyhounds are back in action on Saturday when the men's and women's tennis teams host La Salle University at 11 a.m.
