WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Loyola Univeristy Maryland men's and women's tennis teams continued their play in North Carolina on Saturday, defeating North Carolina A&T.
Both teams recorded 6-1 victories over the Aggies.
The women's team won its doubles point behind victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Ania Krawiec and Amanda Lanciano teamed to beat Lexus Morgan, 6-1, at No. 2, and Julie Clark and Nicole Eberle paired for a 6-0 victory against Sandra Smith and Kalla Jefferson in the third position.
Emily Hughes topped Jefferson, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2 singles, and Krawiec was a 6-2, 6-3, winner over Nadia Hilton at No. 3. Lanciano was stretched to a third set by Morgan, but she came away the winner, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
Olivia Ott topped Tyla Godchidge, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5 singles, and Eberle was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Smith at No. 6.
On the men's side, the Greyhounds swept the doubles point as Greg Olesnycky and Jordan Kuchta led off with a 6-3 victory at No. 1 over Dreshawn Dre and John Wilson. Reid Burch and Brett Shriver then paired to beat Brett Cobert and Kyle Scott, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles, and Alex Castro and John Ferruzzi downed Joshua Bailey and Nicholas Whitehead, 6-2, at No. 3.
Burch scored a 6-0, 6-1 win over Bailey at No. 2 singles, and Shriver was a 7-5, 7-6 (0), winner against Wilson at No. 3 Kuchta delivered a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Cobert at No. 4, and Connor Pietrak defeated Scott, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5. Harrison Kunkel rounded out the victory with a 6-0, 6-0, win over France Kieston, at No. 6.
