Tennis Sweeps Eagles

BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland men's and women's tennis teams swept Coppin State University in non-conference action on a sunny February afternoon. The Greyhound women won 7-0, and the Loyola men topped the Eagles, 6-1.

The women dropped just two points in the match, winning all nine flights.

All three Loyola doubles teams - Rachel Janasek and Olivia Ott, Judy Lite and Scarlett Hoy and Sabrina Fedele and Jackie Lionetta - won their matches 8-0.

Janasek topped Katherine Chisholm, 6-0, 6-0, and Hoy beat Lauretta Mukam, 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 1 and 2 singles positions, respectively. Fedele was a 6-0, 6-0, winner over Sharisse Coppin, while Lite beat Jennifer Mitchell, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 3 and 4. Ott defeated Courtney Clark, 6-0, 6-0, and Lionetta was a 6-0, 6-0, winner over Simi Isola, completing the win for the Greyhounds.

In men's action, J. Pierce Norton and Kevin Zingler teamed to defeat Reginald Robinson and Daniel Nino, 8-2, in No. 1 doubles, and Keyan Sanai and Bobby Gorczakowski outlasted Oleksiy Krylchuk and Patrick Thomas, 8-6, at No. 2. Connor Lisco and Patrick Glaessner won the third doubles match, 8-3, over Roderick and Tre'vonne Peyton.

Norton was a 6-2, 6-3, winner over Nino in No. 2 singles, and Zingler toped Robinson, 6-2, 7-5 (5) at No. 2. Gorczakowski beat Thomas, 6-2, 6-2, and Harrison Kunkel dropped Roderick Peyton, 6-4, 6-3, and Glaessner closed the victory with a 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 win over Tre'vonne Peyton. Sanai fell, 7-5, 6-4, to Krylchuk in No. 1 singles play.
