BALTIMORE - Kevin Zingler won a pair of Saturday matches, and he teamed with Pierce Norton in doubles action to post a win and advance to Sunday's matches at the USTA Tournament at Greenspring Racquet Club.
ZIngler defeated Rico Gore, 6-4, 7-6 (6), in the round of 32 on Saturday, and he then downed David Spivey, 6-2, 6-2, in the following round. He will play Adam Cranford, the tournament's No. 2 seed, on Sunday in the quarterfinals.
He also paired with Norton to beat Cranford and Michael Zechman, 8-5, in quarterfinals doubles action, and the duo will play in the semifinals Sunday.
Norton won his first singles match, defeating Zechman, 6-0, 6-0, before falling, 6-1, 6-1, to Cranford. Bobby Gorczakowski was also a singles winner for the Greyhounds, topping Eric Kraut, 6-4, 6-4, in his first match. He then was edged, 6-1, 7-6 (4), by Michael Ray Pallaries in the round of 16.
Keyan Sanai fell, 6-4, 6-4, to H'cone Thompson in the Round of 32, and Connor Lisco was defeated, 7-6, 4-6, (7), by Justin Lui, in the same round. William Young defeated Patrick Glaessner, 6-2, 7-6 (8), and Robert Renfro beat Ryan Fitzgerald, 6-4, 6-4, in the round of 32, as well. C.J. Chomeau also lost, 6-1, 6-0, to Jans Kemp in the same flight.
