EDISON, N.J. - Junior Brennan Morris has been selected as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s swimmer of the week for the fourth time this season, as announced Tuesday by the league office.
Morris won all seven events he competed in to lead the Loyola University Maryland swimming and diving team to victories over Iona (240-124), Marist (193-175), and Saint Peter’s (257-106) in the squad’s MAAC opener at the H2ounds Invitational this weekend.
With three individual titles, Morris ran his undefeated streak to 14-straight victories in individual events this season. His time of 3:48.81 in the 400 IM ranks third in the NCAA this season and breaks his own school record of 3:49.71 from last year’s MAAC Championships. He also broke the all-time program record in the 500 free with a winning time of 4:26.08, replacing Jacob Drannan’s time of 4:31.15 from 2009 atop the record boards.
In the 1650 free, Morris touched first in 15:21.50, a time that currently ranks 10th in the country.
In relay events, Morris was a member of four winning teams. Loyola’s 200-yard medley relay finished in 1:33.47, while the 400-yard medley relay team clocked in at 3:28.88. The Greyhounds’ 400-yard free relay squad finished in 3:07.42 and the 800-yard free relay won in a time of 6:59.12.
This honor marks the fourth weekly award for Morris this season, while it is the 13th of his career.
