Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College men's and women's swimming and diving teams welcome Delaware, Marist and Niagara to the Mangione Aquatic Center for the H2Ound Invitational this Friday and Saturday. Competition will begin at Friday at 5 p.m. and resume on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
Hosting their second invitational this season, the Greyhounds hope to close out the first half of their schedule on a strong note. The men, who last swam at the Thomas Murphy Invitational in mid-November, are 8-3 in dual-meet competition this season.
Last week, the Loyola men came in at No. 22 in the CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major rankings. The Greyhounds were one of three MAAC teams in those rankings - the other two were Marist and Niagara - setting the stage for a very competitive meet this weekend.
The women, on the other hand, are coming off a solid performance at Mount St. Mary's (against The Mount and Sacred Heart) on November 18, and have raced out to a 10-4 start this season.
Marist took first place in both men's and women's competition at last year's H2Ounds Invitational, while Loyola finished second, defeating Niagara and Catholic.
Both the men and women will have an extended break after this weekend's meet, returning to competition on January 13 against Rider and Howard.
