Loyola swimmers are off to a great start this season with Top-5 times in 17 events and four school records already set. The men, who are ranked 19th in the national Mid-Major Poll, are 7-3 in head-to-head competition, while the women are responsible for this season's new school records.
So far this fall, junior Tori Kamauff swam a record time of 1:56.79 in the 200 Free and freshman Caitlin Cassidy has posted a record time of 58.48 in the 100 Fly to lead the women's effort. The lady Greyhounds have also set relay records in the 200 and 400 Medley Relays this season.
The Greyhounds are coming off a split with Johns Hopkins and VMI in the Thomas Murphy Invitational - also hosted at Loyola's Mangione Aquatic Center. This weekend's meet will have familiar foes in Marist and Delaware, who the `Hounds swam against a year ago in the H2Ounds Invitational. In that meet, the men defeated Delaware for only the second time in program history to place second at the meet.
Friday's competition will begin with the 400 Medley Relays and conclude with the 800 Freestyle Relays and diving events. Saturday will resume with the meet's 200 Freestyle Relays at 10 a.m.
Loyola will host for the third consecutive meet next weekend before taking a month-long winter break. The H2ounds Invitational is Loyola's final "quad-meet" of the year.
