Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College men's swimming team is ranked No. 22 in CollegeSwimming.com's first Mid-Major Rankings of the year. The Greyhounds are the second of three MAAC teams in the rankings while Navy occupies the top spot on the men's side.
The CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major Rankings are a measure of dual-meet strength as measured by an objective scoring system. Loyola holds an 8-3 dual meet record this season with one of those losses to the top-ranked Midshipmen. The Navy men (9-0) have not lost since last season's dual-meet against Columbia and Princeton Universities. Western Kentucky (3-0) is ranked second while Denver (4-3) debuts at No. 3.
The Greyhounds are one of three teams from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with Marist holding a No. 13 ranking and Niagara coming in at No. 24. Both the Red Foxes and Purple Eagles visit the Mangione Aquatic Center for Loyola's H2Ounds Invitational the first weekend in December.
The mid-major rankings are designed to support and promote institutions that do not benefit from large football and basketball television agreements (BCS conferences plus Mountain West and Western Athletic Conference). Rankings are based on each team's best dual meet lineup as judged and submitted by participating teams. Rankings are announced four times throughout the season.
