CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland swimmer Andrew Mann and diver Noel Theroux have been named the Corvias Patriot League Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office Monday.
The duo led the Greyhounds to a 191-103 win over conference-foe Colgate in a dual meet Saturday at Lineberry Natatorium.
Mann won a pair of events in the pool, touching first in the 200 fly (1:58.19) and the 500 free (4:48.36), while he also picked up a runner-up finish in the 1000 free in 10:03.40. His 200 fly time was a personal-best and ranks him 19th in the Patriot League this season, while he's also ranked 14th in the 500 free with his time of 4:46.09 from the Thomas Murphy Invitational and 13th in the 1000 free with his time of 9:52.02 against Drexel, Lafayette and Seton Hall.
So far this season, Mann has captured five individual titles, including two in the 500 free. In addition to his 200 fly win this weekend, he's also won a 200 free and 1650 free race this year.
On the boards, Theroux swept the 1-meter and 3-meter titles for a second time this season. He posted a score of 222.98 on the 1-meter boards and 219.08 points in 3-meter diving.
Theroux has been victorious five times on the two boards this year, winning three 1-meter titles and two 3-meter titles.
This marks the first career weekly award for Mann, a freshman from Gaithersburg, Maryland, while he also becomes the first Greyhound swimmer to be honored by the league this season.
For Theroux, this is the second time he's picked up the league's diver of the week honor, as the sophomore from Deer Park, New York was also honored on November 3.
The Greyhounds will take the next two weekends off before returning to the pool on Friday, Dec. 5 for the H2Ounds Invitational. Marist, Iona and Saint Peter's will visit Mangione Pool for the two-day meet.
