Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola women's swimming and diving team heads to Mount St. Mary's this Saturday for a tri-meet with The Mount and Sacred Heart. The Greyhounds, who are away from home for only the second time this season, take on the non-conference foes in Emmitsburg beginning at 1 p.m.
Loyola's women are coming off a second place finish at the Thomas Murphy Invitational and are 8-4 on the year. Last weekend at the Mangione Aquatic Center, Melissa White picked up a pair of wins with strong performances in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard IM. Senior diver Megan Sterback also won her 1- and 3-meter events to lead the `Hounds past Howard and VMI.
In their first road meet this season, the Loyola women swept Fairfield and Providence in Fairfield, Conn. In that meet, the Greyhounds defeated Fairfield 81-59 while topping Providence 82-56. Michelle Ryan registered record-setting swims in the 100- and 200-meter butterfly events, while freshmen Megan Royer and White also set individual records in the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter backstroke respectively.
Saturday's meet is Loyola's final road competition before Loyola's January 20th meet at Delaware. The Greyhounds only have four meets away from home in the regular season.
