BALTIMORE, Md. - Junior diver Megan Sterback of the Greyhound swimming and diving team has been honored as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Diver of the Week, it has been announced by conference officials.
Sterback, who was also honored with the award two weeks ago after the Greyhounds' win over Providence, was given the award after a record-setting effort at the Thomas Murphy Invitational last weekend. She broke an 18-year-old school record in the three-meter diving event and nearly broke the school's one-meter record in helping Loyola to a split against Johns Hopkins and Howard. Sterback's first-place score of 418.50 points in the three-meter event shattered the previous mark of 395.00, which was set during the 1987 season.
In the one-meter event, Sterback earned a victory by scoring a career-best 245.70 points, which just missed the previous record of 253.25 points, which was set in 1985.
The Greyhounds are idle until December 2-3 when they host Catholic University along with MAAC rivals Marist and Niagara in the H2Ounds Invitational at the Mangione Aquatic Center.
