EDISON, N.J. - Loyola University Maryland's Brennan Morris (Lutherville, Md.) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's Men's Swimmer of the Week after his record-breaking effort last weekend in the Thomas Murphy Invitational.
Morris, a member of the 2009 U.S. World Championships Team, set a school record in the 400-yard individual medley team. The freshman swam a time of 3:56.96, breaking the previous best of 3:57.79 set last season by current Greyhounds' swimmer Jacob Drannan.
His time in the 400 IM is currently ranked third in NCAA Division I according to CollegeSwimming.com.
Morris also recorded victories in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:08.08) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:34.93). He helped four Loyola relay teams - the 400-yard medley, 200-yard freestyle, 800-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle - to top-place finishes.
Morris and the Greyhounds' men are off until December 4, 2009, when they host the H2Ounds Invitational. Loyola's women are in action this Saturday, November 14, when they travel to Emmitsburg, Md., to face Mount St. Mary's and St. Francis (N.Y.).
