Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's and women's swimming and diving teams welcome Johns Hopkins, Howard and VMI to the Mangione Aquatic Center this Friday and Saturday for the Thomas Murphy Invitational. The Greyhounds, who are home for the third consecutive weekend, begin competition on Friday afternoon at 5 p.m.
The Greyhounds are coming off a weekend split against BIG EAST squads Georgetown and Seton Hall last weekend. Loyola, which picked up men's and women's wins against the Hoyas, were led senior Ryan Reeser in the pool and by senior Megan Sterback on the boards. Reeser led the men with wins in both the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle events while Sterback won both the 1- and 3-meter diving competitions for the women.
Last season, Loyola split with Johns Hopkins and Howard in the women's competition at the Thomas Murphy Invitational, while the men defeated VMI and Howard. Ryan Reeser, who won three events in last year's meet is having a solid senior year.
Reeser enters the weekend with the MAAC's top time in the 200-yard freestyle, registering a 1:43.72 against Navy, George Washington and Catholic earlier this season.
The men are 6-2 overall and the women are 6-3 this year. This weekend's meet is the first of two invitationals at Loyola this semester. The Greyhounds are at Mount St. Mary's next weekend and close out the fall semester with the H2Ounds Invitational the first weekend in December.
