EDISON, N.J. - Loyola University Maryland senior swimmer Brennan Morris has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week for the 17th time throughout his career, while junior Michael Brown was tabbed the league’s Men’s Diver of the Week for the first time of his career.
Morris swept his individual events this past weekend against Johns Hopkins and Marywood at the Thomas Murphy Invitational to pick up six more wins this year. Morris won the 400 IM in 4:02.66 and the 1650 freestyle in 15:57.28. He also won his 14th-straight 500 freestyle with a time of 4:38.29, extending a streak that dates back to 2010, his sophomore season.
In relay events, Morris anchored the 800 freestyle relay to a runner-up finish in 7:08.87. He also was a member of the 400 freestyle relay that earned a third-place finish in 3:17.50 and the 400 medley relay that finished third in 3:35.04.
Brown won his first collegiate diving event, the one-meter board, at the Thomas Murphy Invitational on Friday night. Brown finished with a score of 192.07.
The Greyhounds will return to the pool on Friday, Nov. 30, for the two-day H2ounds Invitational. Iona, Marist and Saint Peter’s will visit Baltimore for the meet. Events will start at 5 p.m., on Friday, and then again at 10 a.m., and 3 p.m., on Saturday.
