EDISON, N.J. - Loyola University Maryland junior Brennan Morris (Lutherville, Md.) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s Men’s Swimmer of the Week after winning three more individual events at last weekend’s tri-meet with Lafayette and Seton Hall.
Morris, a two-time MAAC Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Year, ran his streak of undefeated individual victories to six straight after claiming top honors in the 200-yard breaststroke, the 500-yard freestyle and the 1000-yard freestyle last weekend.
Morris won the 1000-yard freestyle in 9:11.89 – a time that currently ranks fifth in Division I this season. He also claimed top honors in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.53) and 500-yard freestyle (4:37.18).
In addition, Morris touched first as the leadoff leg of Loyola’s 200-yard medley relay that finished second overall (split – 23.79; overall – 1:36.21).
This honor marks the 11th weekly award for Morris throughout his career and his second this season.
Loyola will return to action this weekend, hosting the Thomas Murphy Invitational on Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5. Johns Hopkins and Saint Francis (Pa.) will come to the Mangione Aquatics Center for the meet. Events will start at 5 p.m. on Friday, with competition also scheduled for 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday.
