EDISON, N.J. - Senior Brennan Morris has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the league office Wednesday.
Morris earned nine first-place finishes over the weekend, sweeping the 200 IM, 500 freestyle and 1000 freestyle events against Drexel, Lafayette and Seton Hall.
The three-time mid-major honorable mention All-American touched first in the 200 IM with a final time of 1:55.25 and the 1000 free in 9:36.34. He won his 13th-straight 500 free race with a time of 4:42.60 – a streak that dates back to 2010, his sophomore season. He also anchored the 200-yd medley relay team to a third-place finish in 1:37.47.
Throughout his career, Morris has earned 16 MAAC Swimmer of the Week honors, while this is his first this year.
Loyola will be back in the pool this weekend when it hosts the Thomas Murphy Invitational. The Greyhounds will swim Johns Hopkins, Marywood and Saint Francis (Pa.). Events will begin Friday at 5 p.m., while competition will resume Saturday at 10 a.m., and 3 p.m.
