EDISON, N.J. - Loyola College sophomore Sam McQuaid was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week today after a record-setting performance in the Greyhounds' first meet of the season.

McQuaid lowered his own school record in the 100-yard backstroke, winning the event in 51.72 against Boston College, Navy and Catholic in the meet on October 11. He won the event by over a full second and dropped 0.39 off his previous mark.

He also finished second in the 200-yard individual medley and the 200-yard backstroke at the meet.

McQuaid was a part of Loyola's winning 200-yard medley relay team that opened the meet with a time of 1:33.25, just two one-hundredths off the school record in the event.
