Greyhounds Picked Third In MAAC Coaches' Swim Poll

Baltimore, Md. - The 2006-07 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's and women's swimming and diving season is underway and a poll of head coaches predicts Loyola College to finish third and Marist to successfully defend both titles at the Mangione Aquatic Center in February.

Coaches pegged the Rider men and women as runner-ups with each squad receiving a first-place vote with Loyola, Iona, Niagara, Fairfield, St. Peter's and Canisius rounding out the men's poll while Iona, Fairfield, Niagara, Siena, Manhattan, Canisius and St. Peter's complete the women.

On the men's side, Marist will be led by returning scorers Pat Collins and Nick Chevalier and freshman diver Michael Katz. Rider will be led by Brandon Modrov and Josh Rosenblum while Loyola will count on top returning scorers Ryan Reeser and Ian Perazelli. The Greyhounds havec also added newcomers Brad Reeser and Zachary Oster, both of which performed well in the season opener last weekend.

On the women's side, Marist will return top scorers Lauren Maliski and Jamie Falco while Rider has returnees Courtney Clark and Priscilla Modrov on the roster. Loyola returns Megan Hadley and Victoria Kamauff with additions such as freshman Megan Meyer and Melissa White ready to make a difference. Meyer broke a 12-year old Loyola school record in the 100 Fly on Saturday.

The 2007 MAAC Championships will take place February 8-10 at Loyola's Mangione Aquatic Center.
