Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's and women's swimming and diving teams open the 2007-08 season at Navy this Saturday. The Greyhounds will take on Catholic, George Washington and the host Midshipmen beginning at 11 a.m. from Lejeune Hall in Annapolis, Md.
The `Hounds, who swam an exhibition meet at home at the end of September, enter the season with squad mixed with veteran leadership and talented youth. Among that group of talented youth is Caitlin Cassidy, who swam a school record 59.29 in the 100 Fly and registered a Loyola Top 5 time of 1:00.09 in the 100 Back at the Green and Green Exhibition meet.
Loyola's veterans include men's captains seniors Patrick Hicks and Ian Perazzelli, as well as women's captains Megen Hadley and Tess Drazdowski. Overall, the Greyhounds return a solid group of scorers from last year's MAAC Championships, where both the men and women place third in the final standings.
This year's schedule will have Loyola on the road for its first five official meets. After Navy, the `Hounds will swim at Providence, Boston College, Saint Francis (PA) and Seton Hall before hosting the Thomas Murphy Invitational in early November.
