EDISON, N.J. - The Loyola University Maryland men's swimming and diving team will look to win its third-straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title in February 2011, but this time, it will have to do so in a new venue.
The 2011 MAAC Championships will be held February 17-19 at Erie Community College's Burt Flickinger Center in Buffalo, N.Y. The last 10 league meets have been held at Loyola's Mangione Fitness & Aquatic Center.
Tickets for the 2011 Championships will go on sale Monday, September 13, at 12 p.m. (EDT), through TicketLeap and the MAAC. An all-session pass is $50. Tickets for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning sessions are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Passes for Thursday and Friday's evening sessions are $15 for adults and $5 for students, while Saturday evening's finale will be $25 for adults and $5 for students.
The Burt Flickinger Center was constructed for the World University Games in 1993, and is one of the top aquatic centers in the country, gaining international and national prestige. It has hosted many events including the U.S. Open, NCAA, SUNYAC, Atlantic 10, NJCAA, YMCA, and New York State High School Championships.
The Aquatic Center houses an eight-lane, 50-meter competition pool with two one-meter diving boards and two three-meter diving boards. In addition, the Flickinger Center offers a four-foot, six-lane regulation warm-up pool. There is seating for approximately 1,200 spectators in the Aquatic Center.
Loyola's men won their second-consecutive MAAC title last season, while the Greyhounds' women placed fourth.
Head Coach Brian Loeffler and the Greyhounds start their 2010-2011 season on October 2 with their annual Green-Grey Meet at 11 a.m. Loyola opens intercollegiate competition on October 9 when it travels to Fairfax, Va., for a tri-meet against George Mason and Navy at 11 a.m.
