July 29, 2011

SHANGHAI -
Loyola University Maryland sophomore-to-be Julien Brice wrapped up competition at the 14th FINA World Swimming & Diving Championships for his native Saint Lucia in Shanghai, China, on Friday. Brice turned in personal-best times in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events throughout the competition.

In the 50 free, Brice clocked in at 24.59 to finish 56th in the world, while his time of 54.99 from the 100 free placed him in a three-way tie for 74th. His 100-free mark was also just shy of the Saint Lucian national record, set at 54.26 by Joshua Runako earlier this year.

At last year's FINA World Short Course Championships, Brice swam 53.52 in the 100-meter freestyle and 1:04.61 in the 100-meter individual medley. Both marks set St. Lucian records for his age group.
