Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola swimming and diving program unofficially begins the 2007-08 season with the Green and Grey Meet during Family Weekend at the College. The Greyhounds, who host the meet on September 29, commence intercollegiate competition on October 13 with a Quad Meet at Navy.
The 2007-08 schedule will have the Greyhounds on the road for their first four official meets of the year. After Navy, Loyola will head to Providence on October 20, the women will swim at St. Francis on the 26th and a Tri-Meet at Seton Hall on November 3 will pit both the men and women against BIG EAST foes Seton Hall and Georgetown.
In between St. Francis and Seton Hall; however, the `Hounds will host their annual Alumni Meet on October 27. An alumni reception will follow the day's activities, which include in-pool competition beginning at 1 p.m.
Loyola settles into its familiar host role in November with the Thomas Murphy Invitational on Nov. 9 and 10, and the H2Ounds Invitational on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Johns Hopkins, VMI and Howard will participate in the Thomas Murphy Invitational, while Marist, Delaware and Drexel will swim in the H2Ounds Invitational.
The Greyhound women will host Siena and Mount St. Mary's on December 8 before Loyola takes its annual winter break. The `Hounds will train at Deerfield Beach, Fla. again this year and return to the pool on January 12 at Rider. A meet at Towson on January 26 ends the away meets for the season, while a Tri-Meet with Iona and Fairfield on February 2 ends the regular season.
Loyola will also host the MAAC Championships February 14-16 at the Mangione Aquatic Center with an alumni and parent reception prior to the last night of the finals. To view the 2007-08 schedule, click on Swimming and Diving Schedule.
