Loyola Leads MAAC All-Academic Team

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's and women's swimming and diving teams led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference this year in All-Academic honorees. The Greyhounds landed seven men and 16 women - the best in the league - on the 2008 MAAC All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Here are Loyola's honorees:

For the men, Richard Gibbons, Patrick Hicks, Colin McKenna, Zachary Oster, Matthew Shaw, E.J. Verrico, and Gregory Yelovich made the team.

For the women, Emily Benton, Alexandra Coletta, Lindsay Comodore, Eryn Crane, Tess Drazdowski, Megen Hadley, Kristen Hampson, Lauren Harrington, Lauren McNoble, Clare Ostrom, Mary Jane Pijanowski, Megan Royer, Lindsay Scott, Megan Shovlin, Katie Siemon, and Melissa White were honored.

Loyola finished third at the MAAC Championships this past season. The men set seven school records along the way, while the women re-wrote the record book with 15 new records.
