Baltimore, Md. - Loyola freshman Matthew Fralinger has been named the MAAC Men's Swimmer of the Week after his performance in Loyola's win at Towson last Saturday. Fralinger won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events to help the Greyhound defeat the Tigers for the first time in 10 years.
Fralinger swam a time of 58.47 in the 100 Breast and registered a 2:08.71 in the 200 Breast to win each event. He also swam the second leg of Loyola's 200 Medley Relay - and event the Greyhounds won by more than two seconds. The relay swam a time of 1:36.24 in picking up 11 points in the win.
The swimmer of the week distinction is Fralinger's second this season and the fourth for Loyola. The Greyhounds close out the regular season this Saturday hosting Iona and Fairfield at the Mangione Aquatic Center.
