Swimming And Diving Hits Homestretch With Towson And Iona

Jan. 25, 2007

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola swimming and diving teams close out the regular season this weekend with a home meet against Towson and a road trip to Iona. The Greyhounds, who host the MAAC Championships in two weeks, take on Towson this Saturday and Iona on Sunday.

Loyola's men are 11-6 overall while the women are 11-8 heading into the weekend. The Greyhounds swam at Delaware last Saturday, where senior Ryan Reeser captured victories in the 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle and 1,000-yard freestyle events. Senior diver Megan Sterback was also victorious, claiming first-place finishes on the boards.

Both seniors will play a role in this weekend's outcome against fairly strong competition. Last year, the Greyhounds dropped head-to-head action against the Tigers of Towson before sweeping Iona in the regular-season finale.

Much like last weekend, Reeser won three events against the Tigers in 2006 while Sterback won both diving events against both Towson and Iona. Unlike last season, Loyola has Towson at home and Iona on the road. Both meets begin at 1 p.m.
