EDISON, N.J. - Loyola University Maryland junior Brennan Morris has earned his sixth Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week honor this season, as announced by the league office Tuesday. Morris has earned six of the conference’s nine weekly awards this year, including the last three-straight. Throughout his career, Morris has earned 15 weekly honors.
Morris continued his dominance in the pool this past weekend, winning three more events against UMBC and Towson on Saturday to run his streak of undefeated individual victories to 20-straight races.
The native of Lutherville, Md., claimed the 200-yard IM title in 1:53.75, completed the 500-yard freestyle in 4:37.51 and touched first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:28.51. Morris was also on the Greyhounds’ 200-yard medley relay that finished third in 1:37.71.
Morris leads the MAAC in seven events this season, while he ranks second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.53) and fifth in the 200-yard IM (1:53.75). He tops the league in the 50-yard backstroke (23.79), the 100-yard backstroke (50.06) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:49.24), in addition to the 500-yard freestyle (4:26.08), the 1000-yard freestyle (9:11.89), 1650-yard freestyle (15:21.50) and the 400-yard IM (3:48.81).
Loyola will return to the pool on Friday when it hosts La Salle on Senior Day. Events are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., at the Mangione Aquatic Center.
