Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's and women's teams return from a month-long break to host Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Rider this Saturday at the Mangione Aquatic Center.
The Greyhounds have had a very successful fall season, with a number of school records and top times, most notably a victory over another conference rival, Marist, in the H2Ounds Invitational back in December.
For the women's team, the victory over the Red Foxes was the first one in school history. After falling behind in the first session, the women rallied together on day two to push ahead of Marist for the win. Freshman Lauren Mari placed first in the 100-yard freestyle with a new school record time of 53.11.
On the men's side, sophomore Jacob Dranan helped the team defeat Marist for the second consecutive year, and also earned the MAAC Swimmer of the Week honor for his performance. Dranan had first place finishes in the 500-yard freestyle and the 200-yard individual medley. He also recorded his fourth fastest time in the 200-yard butterfly event, clocking in at 1:52.93.
Saturday's matchup with Rider is the first of this season's final three meets heading into the MAAC Championships in February. In last year's championships, Rider edged Loyola for second place, while Marist took the top spot on both sides.
The meet is set to begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
