BALTIMORE, Md. - The Loyola University Maryland swimming and diving programs will look to kick off the new year with a pair of wins when the Greyhounds take on Boston College and Rider on Saturday, January 15 at 1 p.m.
Loyola finished a strong fall schedule in 2010, with the men's side losing only to Navy and the women collecting quality wins against Iona, Saint Peter's and Johns Hopkins.
Autumn also saw the Greyhounds make several impressions on the record books, including cracking the school's top five-fastest times in eight events at the H2ounds Invitational in December.
Loyola will face two strong opponents on Saturday in Boston College and Rider. The Boston College men's swimming and diving team fell to only three opponents in the fall and broke several school records, while the women's squad also finished the year with a winning record.
Fellow Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference member Rider will also take to the water for its first event of the year. The Rider women took down La Salle and Lehigh last fall and the men narrowly knocked off Marist in October.
A good showing for the Greyhounds will start Loyola on the right path as the MAAC Championships begin on March 17. Loyola next heads to Harrisonburg, Va., on January 22 to take on James Madison and Towson before a contest against La Salle in Philadelphia, Pa. on January 29.
