BALTIMORE - Loyola's men's swimming and diving team defeated Howard 247-58 and McDaniel 244-71, but fell to Johns Hopkins 199-120, while the Greyhound women bested Howard 268-49 and McDaniel 237-91, but fell to Hopkins 209-121 at this weekend's three-session Thomas Murphy Invitational held at Loyola's Fitness and Aquatic Center (FAC) that concluded on Saturday afternoon.
Loyola's men's team was led by Marko Turcinov's three victories on Saturday in the 100 Fly, the 200 Fly, and the 200 IM as well as Dan Casey's victory in the three-meter diving competition. Casey also won the men's one-meter competition on Friday night during Session I of this weekend's festivities.
The Greyhound women were led by Nori Skoda's victory in the 200 IM, where the freshman broke the Loyola record with her time of 2:14.81. Skoda earned her first win of the meet on Friday night when she captured first place in the 400 IM with her time of 4:39.56.
Loyola's women also received a win from sophomore Chelsea Brace, who demolished her competition by more than two seconds in the 200 Back event en route to a time of 2:10.89.
Greyhound diver Megan Sterback posted first-place finishes in both the one and three-meter diving competitions for Loyola's other two triumphs of the day.
Loyola returns to action on Friday, December 5th at 5 p.m. for Session I of another two-day, three-session meet -- the Colgate Invitational -- in Hamilton, NY. Session II of the Colgate Invitational is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 6th with Session III starting around 3 p.m. on Saturday, as well.
