BALTIMORE - Loyola's men's and women's swimming and diving teams built big leads over Howard and McDaniel, while Johns Hopkins built leads over all three of its opponents during Day One of the Thomas Murphy Invitational on Friday night at the Greyhounds' Fitness and Aquatic Center.
Loyola's men lead Howard 74-8 while the women are ahead of the Bisons 63-7. The Greyhounds men are up on McDaniel 72-13 as the Greyhound women lead McDaniel 49-25. Johns Hopkins' men and women lead Howard and McDaniel by a large margin while the Blue Jays men lead Loyola 59-28 as the Blue Jays women lead Loyola 53-21.
The Greyhounds' lone victory on Friday came from freshman Nori Skoda when she won the 400 IM after blazing to a time of 4:39.56. Both Loyola's men's and women's teams recorded second-place finishes in the 200 Free Relay with times of 1:26.65 and 1:41.54, respectively.
Loyola returns to action tomorrow at 10 a.m. for Session I of Day Two of the Thomas Murphy Invitational. The final session of this weekend's meet starts at 3 p.m. tomorrow.
