BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland swimming and diving team held its annual Green vs. Grey intrasquad meet at Mangione Pool in the Fitness and Aquatics Center Saturday morning.
Each swimmer participated in five events throughout the meet – the 100 fly, 100 back, 100 breast, 100 free and 100 IM – with the total time determining the winner. The women’s green team, composed of juniors and seniors, was victorious, while the men’s grey team, composed of freshmen and sophomores, won.
Freshman Christina Napoli and sophomore Maddie Myers were the top finishers for the grey team, with Napoli barely edging Myers out of third place. Napoli turned in a time of 5:25.21, while Myers clocked in at 5:25.48.
Junior Theresa McKallen, competing for the green team, rounded out the top-five women’s finishers with a time of 5:27.71.
The men’s side saw the grey team place four among the top five finishers, but senior Zeke Wolfgang turned in a winning time of 4:39.53 to narrowly beat sophomore Ben Cono’s time of 4:39.67.
Sophomore Maggie Garrahan won the diving competition with a score of 109.90.
The Greyhounds will open their season on Friday when they host American and George Washington at 5 p.m.
