Morris Wins Two Events At ECAC Championships

PITTSBURGH - Brennan Morris won a pair of events, helping the Loyola University Maryland men's swimming and diving team take fourth place at the 2010 ECAC Championships at the University of Pittsburgh.

Morris won the 200-yard backstroke by over three seconds, swimming 1:47.06, and he then came back to swam a time of 2:03.60 in the 200-yard breaststroke to edge Pavel Buyanov from the College of Staten Island by 0.19 seconds.

Megan Shovlin started the day in fine fashion for the women's team, swimming 17:17.91 to place third in the 1,650-yard freestyle.

Her finish helped the Greyhounds' women take 10th at the Championships.

Megan McCotter was 12th in the same event as Shovlin in 18:39.39.

Ryan Shovlin and Anthony Bussanich took 14th and 16th, respectively, in the 1,650-yard freestyle on the men's side, swimming times of 17:14.30 and 17:22.39.

Sam McQuaid earned 10th in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:52.61.

The women's 400-yard freestyle relay of Nicole Romano, Megan Royer, Lauren Mari and Mary Henkels swam a time of 3:37.96 to finish ninth.

Loyola closed the meet with a fifth-place finish in the men's 400-yard freestyle relay. Gregory Yelovich, Zach Oster, Morris and Brad Reeser finished in 3:07.50.
