Swimming & Diving Finishes Day Two At ECACs

PITTSBURGH - The Loyola University Maryland men's swimming and diving team remained in fifth place at the 2010 ECAC Championships after the second day of competition at the University of Pittsburgh.

The Loyola women's team slipped one spot to ninth.

Sam McQuaid recorded the Greyhounds' top finish on Saturday, taking second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.38.

Ozzy Torres claimed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly, swimming 49.81, while Jacob Drannan was 13th in 50.83.

McQuaid and Torres joined Jeffrey Rowe and Brad Reeser on the men's 200-yard medley relay team that clocked a time of 1:33.46 to place fourth.

The women's 200-yard medley relay team of Mary Henkels, Courtney Trivino, Lauren Mari and Megan Royer finished sixth in 1:50.41.

Trivino swam 57.66 to finish seventh in the women's 100-yard backstroke. Henkels was 14th in 58.71.

Reeser finished 11th in the men's 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 1:42.71, while Colin Chenet was 15th in the 100-yard breaststoke in 59.38.

Erick Convery and Marc Fink placed 14th and 15th, respectively, in the 400-yard individual medley with times of 4:19.82 and 4:21.07.

Royer and Trivino teamed with Megan Shovlin and Nicole Romano to place 14th in the 800-yard freestyle relay in 8:07.88.

The men's 800-yard freestyle relay of Brennan Morris, Torres, Drannan and McQuaid closed the night with a sixth place finish, clocking a time of 6:54.50.

The competition concludes on Sunday.
