Mulligan Takes Down School Record At PL Championships Day Two

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Tara Mulligan broke own school 100-yard breaststroke record in Friday morning's preliminaries, and she then finished fourth overall in the evening's final, highlighting the Loyola University Maryland men's women's swimming and diving team's third day at the Patriot League Championships.

Mulligan touched the wall in 1:03.97 in the morning's qualifying heat, taking nearly a second off the Loyola standard she set at last season's Patriot League meet of 1:04.75.

She then took an early lead in the night's final before coming in fourth in 1:04.35. Cara Egan placed 10th in the final (1:06.07), picking up seven additional points for the Greyhounds.

After the third day of the Championships, Loyola's women are in seventh place at the meet with 121 points, while the Greyhounds men are sixth with 154. The U.S. Naval Academy leads both team races.

Kalie Coyne and Theresa McKallen opened the evening by scoring points for the Greyhounds in the women's 400-yard individual medley, placing 14th (4:33.82) and 16th (4:35.16), respectively.

Brianna Keelan then added to her individual point total - she finished seventh in Thursday's 50-yard freestyle - with a 14th-place time of 1:52.09 in the women's 200-yard freestyle. Madison Hardimon picked up four points on the men's side in the 200-yard freestyle, placing 13th in 1:40.98.

Dale Maholage took 15th to score in the men's 100-yard breaststroke (57.12).

Kelsey Dramis placed 14th in the women's 100-yad backstroke of the event with a time of 57.74, and Zeke Wolfgang was 11th in the men's version of the event in 50.65.

Noel Theroux took eighth in the men's 1-meter diving competition with 226.75 points.

The women's 400-yard medley relay of Dramis, Mulligan, Courtney Martin and Erin Calderoni placed seventh in 3:52.0 while the men's team of Wolfgang, Maholage, Rich Mueller and Hardimon pulled into the wall in sixth at 3:22.73.

Preliminary events on the fourth and final day of the competition begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bucknell University's Kinney Natatorium.
