Morris Wins Fourth-Straight MAAC Title In 1650 Free On Final Day Of Champs

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Loyola University Maryland senior Brennan Morris claimed his third Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title of the 2013 MAAC Championships on Saturday, the final day of competition, touching first in the 1650 free. Morris’ title was his 15th career conference crown and fourth in the event, while his time met the NCAA B cut standard.

Sophomore Erin Calderoni finished runner-up in the 200 back with a time of 2:05.49 and then teamed with sophomore Brianna Keelan, junior Erin Shea and junior Caitlin Cronin to finish off the meet with a third-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:31.87).

In the 200 back, freshman Lizzie McKenna was fourth in 2:05.49, while classmate Cara Egan was seventh in the 200 breast, touching in 51.97, and junior Courtney Chenet was eighth in 2:27.39.

Junior Michael Brown finished sixth in 1-meter diving, tallying a score of 221.60, and freshman Ryan Conley was eighth with a score of 213.60.

In the 1650 free, junior Bryan Bedacht was eighth in 16:16.72 and the Greyhounds’ 400 free relay team of graduate student Ryan Shea, freshman Madison Hardimon, senior Jeffrey Rowe and Morris capped off the day with a sixth-place finish in the 400 free relay in 3:07.40.

As a team, the women’s squad scored 443 points to finish in third place. Marist won the team title with 801 points and Rider was second at 608 points. 

Rider won a close men’s battle with 576 points, while Marist was second at 559.5 and Canisius was third with 534.5 points. Saint Peter’s checked in at fourth with 498.5 points, followed by Bryant University (385 points) and Loyola in sixth with 380 points.
