New Rochellle, N.Y. - Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams capture victories over the Gaels of Iona in their final dual meet of the year. The men defeated Iona by a score of 145-92, while the women won by a score of 127-112. The Loyola men won every swimming event except for the 50 freestyle on Saturday in New Rochelle, N.Y.
Multiple winners included freshman Ian Perrazzelli, who won the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:24.95. Perrazzelli went on to win the following event, the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:49.45. The Hounds were also led by the seniors on their final dual meet of their career.Senior co-captain Marko Turcinov won the 100 freestyle in a time of 47.34, while the other senior co-captain Sam Brownell captured victory in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:04.19. Senior Nick Wooters added finishing touches on his dual meet career with a victory in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:17.62.
The women were led by stellar diving once again from sophomore diver Megan Sterback who won both the one meter as well as the three meter diving events with scores of 218.93 and 212.55. Freshman Megen Hadley led the way in the pool with victories in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:59.99, and the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:19.38.
Senior Lisa Davey ended her dual meet career with a victory in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:17.35. The women's 400 freestyle relay team of Laura Hanlon, Melissa Birkenmeier, Megen Hadley and Shannon Mahon sealed the meet by winning the final relay with a time 3:43.18.
Head Coach Brian Loeffler commented on the last dual meet of the year, "It was great to end both our women's as well as our men's seasons on a winning note. This should help us build momentum going into our conference meet."
