BALTIMORE - Loyola's men's swimming and diving team defeated Iona 156-85, while the Greyhound women ousted the Gaels 133-108 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) meet on Saturday at Loyola's Fitness and Aquatic Center (FAC) in what was both teams' final contest before the MAAC Championships.
The Greyhound men received two wins from Ryan Reeser in the 200 Free (1:44.31) and 200 Fly (1:59.01) and two victories from Dan Casey in the one- and three-meter diving competitions with his scores of 207.98 and 203.70, respectively. Loyola's women got a couple wins from senior Lisa Davey, who took gold in the 200 IM (2:18.08) and 200 Breast (2:33.33).
Marko Turcinov (50 Free - 21.77), James Malone (1000 Free - 10:39.50), Sam Brownell (200 IM - 2:05.13), Erin Perry (one meter diving - 208.43), Chelsea Brace (200 Fly - 2:17.77), Kyle Klimas (200 Back - 2:03.21), Chris Berger (500 Free - 4:50.31), Megan Sterback (three meter diving - 233.48), and Stephen Price (200 Breast - 2:20.42) all posted first-place finishes for the Greyhounds.
With the wins, Loyola's men's record improves to 8-5 on the year, while the women's record is boosted to 10-5.
Loyola hits the water again Thursday, February 19th for the biggest and most important meet of the year -- the three-day, six session MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships, which is held at the FAC.
