PHILADELPHIA - The Loyola Unviersity Maryland swimming and diving team won nine events in an afternoon meet at La Salle’s Kirk Pool on Wednesday.
Senior Brennan Morris claimed two titles, touching first in the 1000 free (9:37.46) and the 200 back (1:52.43). Junior Caitlin Cronin won the 200 free in 1:56.66, junior Jacob Norfolk won the 100 breast (1:00.98) and freshman Kait Richter was victorious in the 200 fly (2:09.98).
The Greyhounds also swept the 200 IM as junior Courtney Chenet led three Greyhounds to the top three finishers on the women’s side, touching in 2:13.01. Freshman Arianna Dean was second in 2:19.14 and junior Erin Thomson was third in 2:22.84.
In relay events, sophomore Brianna Keelan, junior Erin Shea, freshman Jenny Riley and freshman Megan Brady won the women’s 400 freestyle relay in 3:46.63, while the men’s team of junior Bryan Bedacht, freshman Richard Mueller, senior Ryan Shovlin and sophomore Brendan McGann was first in 3:23.49.
La Salle swept the team portion of the meet, with the Explorers men winning, 181-110, and the women winning by a score of 180-116.
The Greyhounds will return to the pool on Saturday, Feb. 2 when they head to Mount St. Mary’s for their final regular-season meet. Events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
