CATONSVILLE, Md. - Junior Brennan Morris remained undefeated in individual events this season, winning three Saturday to lead the Loyola University Maryland swimming and diving teams against Towson and UMBC at the UMBC Natorium. The Greyhounds’ men fell to Towson, 154-140, and UMBC, 167-122, while the women lost to the Tigers, 230-70, and the Retrievers, 235-65.
Morris extended his streak of individual victories to 20 straight, winning the 1000-yard freestyle in 9:28.51 and the 500-yard freestyle in 4:37.51. He also won the 200-yard IM in 1:53.75 and was joined by Ben Duva in the top three, as Duva claimed third in 2:00.22.
In addition, Jeffrey Rowe earned a pair of victories, winning the 50-yard freestyle in 21.98 and the 100-yard butterfly in 54.09.
On the women’s side, Caitlin Cronin earned three top-three finishes, including a victory in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.63). She took second in the 100-yard freestyle (52.86) and third in the 50-yard freestyle (24.53).
Patrick Mukri rounded out the Greyhounds with top-three finishes in individual events, as he took third in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.52) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:56.51).
Loyola will return to the pool next weekend, hosting La Salle in its final home meet of the season on Friday, Jan. 27. Events are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
