BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Loyola University Maryland swimming and diving team got a pair of victories from Ben Cono, Lindsey Staszewski and Noel Theroux and one from Tara Mulligan and the men’s 400 medley relay team Saturday afternoon in a dual meet at Lehigh.
The 400 medley relay team of Zeke Wolfgang, Cono, Rich Mueller and Ruslan Kopunek started the day with a win, combining for a time of 3:30.95.
Cono then swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100 breaststroke with a new pool-record time of 56.50 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:11.16. He also added a second-place finish in the 400 IM (4:17.11).
Staszewski and Theroux swept the diving events with Staszewski scoring 235.42 points in 1-meter diving and 245.47 in 3-meter diving. Theroux won 1-meter with a score of 289.12 and 3-meter with a score of 246.15.
In the 100 breaststroke, Tara Mulligan was victorious, touching in 1:09.23.
The Greyhounds also got runner-up finishes from John Callaghan, Maggie Garrahan, Sam Baluzy, Liz McKenna, Wolfgang, Cara Egan and North Woods.
Callaghan touched second behind Cono in each of the breaststroke events, with times of 1:01.36 in the 100 and 2:15.71 in the 200.
In the 100m backstroke, Wolfgang claimed second in men’s race (53.90), while McKenna took second in the women’s race with a time of 1:02.09.
Egan took second in the women’s 200 breaststroke (2:30.81), and Woods was second in the men’s 500 freestyle (2:54.19).
In diving action, Garrahan finished behind Staszewski, taking second in the women’s 1-meter dive with a score of 216.59, while Baluzy totaled 208.35 points and finished second in the men’s 1-meter dive.
The Greyhounds will return to action Friday, Jan. 22, when they travel to the United States Naval Academy for a meet at 4 p.m.
