Sept. 6, 2011
BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland rowing team will be holding walk-on tryouts for the 2010-2011 season. No experience is necessary, and all are welcome to learn about what is needed to become a member of the novice-freshman squad.
Informational meetings will be held this Thursday, Sept. 8, from 430-530 p.m. in Sellinger Hall Room 104, and again on Monday, Sept. 12, in Maryland Hall Room 344 from 430-530 p.m. for those who cannot attend the first meeting.
The Greyhounds are seeking competitive athletes for our light-weight and open-weight squads. We are also seeking small-framed men and women (90-120 lbs) to serve as coxswains. Again, no experience is necessary for this very competitive walk-on team. Loyola competes in against teams from all over the country.
The women have taken 4 of the last 6 MAAC conference titles, an IRA national championship in the light 4, and captured the petite final at the 2010 Dad Vails collegiate championship. The men finished second in the MAAC and placed 11th at the IRA National Regatta in Sacramento in 2009 and 12th in 2010.
