Baltimore, Md. - All interested students, especially former high school athletes, are encouraged to attend an information session on trying out for the Loyola College crew team. Meetings will take place this Wednesday and Thursday at 5:30 p.m. each night.
No experience is necessary to join this highly competitive team. Over 70% of the nation's rowers, including our Gold medal Olympians, start rowing in college. There are categories for lightweight, and open weight men and women.Smaller framed athletes (under 125 pounds) are especially in demand to command the state-of-the-art fleet.
Intercollegiate athletics sponsors this varsity team. The men's team has been invited to race at the national championship regatta each of the last four years, where they have earned a 6th and a 7th place finish.Loyola has also won both the men's and women's conference team championship titles (2 for the women) in the last five years, finishing 2nd four times.
Identical crew info meetings will take place on Wednesday in Knott hall B01, and on Thursday in Maryland Hall 342 at 5:30 p.m. each night. These short meetings are for information purposes only, sign-ups will occur next Monday and Tuesday.
