CHERRY HILL, N.J. - Racing four times in three days, the Greyhound men's frosh 4 crew team finished first in the third final at the 2006 Intercollegiate Rowing Association Regatta at Cooper River this past weekend.
"Our guys rowed three really solid races to get to [the final]," Coach Al Ramirez said. "They executed their race plans extremely well."
On Thursday, the Greyhounds placed fifth in the third heat of the event, finishing with a time of 7:17.6. In the second race of the day, Loyola finished third in its heat behind Oregon State and Yale to advance to Saturday's semifinals.
In the semifinals on Saturday morning, the Greyhounds finished first in its heat to advance to the finals, beating Temple, Michigan, Long Beach and George Washington. Facing Temple for the second straight race, Loyola finished ahead of the Owls by nearly three seconds to take the final.
