Greyhounds Send Boat To National Final

June 1, 2007

Cherry Hill, N.J. - The Loyola men's Varsity 4 boat posted a 26th-place finish in Thursday's time trial and advanced to the E-Level Final at the IRA National Championships on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J. The Greyhounds raced to a sixth-place finish in the Final on Friday with a time of 6:49.40.

Only 35 boats advanced to the men's Varsity 4 with coxswain championship, and the Greyhounds were fortunate to be among the nation's elite in this category. Coxswain Christine Drennan, stroke Devin Marsicovetere, senior MVP Tom Scida, Cody Kishur, Dan Reardon, and alternate Jack Vitanovec accepted their entry last Wednesday.

In Thursday's time trial, Loyola posted a time of 5:47.79, placing them 0.33 seconds out of 24th place and a Grand Final. The trials, which saw only three seconds separate the top four crews from the next 16, were highly contested.

Loyola's E-Level final included boats from Michigan, Navy, Georgia, Lehigh, Minnesota and Holy Cross. The Midshipmen won the event in 6:39.57, while Georgia and Lehigh rounded out the top three.
