Loyola University Maryland men's rowing senior Christopher Golon was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Golon led the Loyola University Maryland men's rowing varsity four boat in a very successful campaign during his senior season. After finishing fifth at the MAAC Championships, the squad closed out its season last week with a second-place finish in the Grand Final of the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Championships with a time of 7:00.79.

Golon helped the crew earn MAAC Boat of the Week honors three times this season and closed out his career as one of the most successful varsity four athletes in Greyhound history.

Golon also was honored recently at the Loyola Athletic Awards Banquet for having the highest GPA among senior athletes at Loyola, graduating with a 3.858 grade-point average.
