Cooper River, N.J. - A victory by the women's lightweight four in 8:17.30 highlighted the men's and women's rowing teams day at the Philadelphia Frostbite Regatta held on the Cooper River Saturday. The four bested teams from Lafayette, Binghamton and Penn State for the victory.
Both novice four teams placed third in their respective races, as the women were outdone by Lafayette and West Virginia. The men fell short to La Salle and Maritime College.
The women's novice eight also had a great showing with a second place finish out of 21 squads, finishing just behind Temple. The men's novice eight took 11th of 19 schools.
On the varsity front, the men's novice four had the best finish, with a 4th place outcome out of 15 crews. The women's four took 10th of 22.
The women's eight finished in the middle of the pack with a ninth place finish out of 18 and the men took 10th of 12 schools.
Today's races were the last of the fall season for the rowing teams as they will not have an official competition until the Jesuit Invitational on March 20, 2010.
