Men's Varsity 8 Gets Win At Head Of Occoquan

Fairfax, Va. - The Loyola men's Varsity 8 raced to a team victory at the Head of the Occoquan in Fairfax, Va. over the weekend. The Greyhounds registered a time of 15:52.47 to capture the race ahead of local crews such as George Mason and William & Mary.

The men also raced a Varsity 4 boat and a JV8 at the Occoquan. The JV boat finished second among the JVs and eighth overall in 17:11. The Varsity 4, stroked by seniors Doug Brown and Ed Garnett, finished 4th out of 11 boats.

On the women's side, the Greyhounds also had their best race of the season. The Varsity 8, steered by junior Jennifer O'Keefe placed 11th in a race won by Navy. The women's Varsity 4 took 12th out of 24 in a strong effort against some very good crews.

The crew teams return to action at the Frostbite Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa. on November 12.
