Oct. 21, 2012

BOSTON, Mass. - The Loyola University Maryland women's rowing team finished 24thon Saturday at the Head of the Charles.

The four boat team of Clara Coleman, Andrea Almeida, Eleni Papadatos, Kelly Gregitis, and coxswain Lindsay Superczynski finished 24th out of 45 starting crews with a time of 20:48.

"The team reported having issues setting the boat and finding a tight rhythm in the first third of the race," Head Coach Al Ramirez said. "They seemed to relax and row more tightly unified through the remainder of the race."

Thompson boat center (Tbc) took first in the race followed by Boston University, and New York Athletic Club. The Greyhounds beat out Penn State and Colgate.

"We hope to make up some ground on Temple, Fordham, and Sacred Heart as the season progresses," Ramirez said.

The men's alumni team finished ahead of four other crews, racing in the club 8 category rather than the alumni event. The team finished the course in 17:44, just ahead of the College of William and Mary.

The women's rowing team will be back in action on October 27th at the Head of the Schuylkill. The Greyhounds will debut the top 8's for the first time this season.
